SuperSpeed USB introduces two new protocols that enhance both performance and reliability:
-
End-to-End Protocols
These protocols are derived from the USB 2.0 transaction model, commonly referred to as the Token/Data/Handshake protocols. In the USB 3.0 specification, they are described collectively as the Protocol Layer, defining end-to-end communication behavior. -
Port-to-Port Protocols
These protocols are associated with the new SuperSpeed (SS) link interface and are similar in concept to other gigabit serial interfaces, such as PCI Express.
